Robert W. Deprez, Managing Director
Robert W. Deprez is a financial executive with extensive restructuring and turnaround advisory experience who has served in the roles of CEO, CFO and CRO. He is a resourceful financial advisor who combines successful operating and consulting experience to develop optimal solutions for each engagement.
Mr. Deprez has been involved in all aspects of financial restructurings, turnarounds, and claim evaluations. He has worked with dozens of distressed companies ranging from middle market to multi-billion dollar companies. For example, in his work with a steel mill,
he established a $90 million DIP facility to facilitate the mill's bankruptcy filing. In his capacity as interim CFO of a manufacturing company going through bankruptcy, he was one of the key members of a team that restructured the company's debt and established a new $80 million debt facility.
Mr. Deprez has provided litigation and claim evaluation service to support legal teams. His litigation experience includes a fortune 50 industrial firm that sued its insurance carriers for several billion dollars of environmental claims requiring his team to evaluate
over $4 billion of potential environmental claims and over 50 million pages of discovered documents. He also served as an expert witness in a real estate development case involving a developer, a scrap yard operator and a railroad company.
Mr. Deprez has private equity experience and has worked on several cases involving PE sponsored firms. He was the founder and CEO of Arbor Point Capital, a middle market buyout firm that completed platform and add-on acquisitions of under-performing companies. One acquisition was completed through a 363 sale and closed within 45 days of the initial stalking horse bid. As the CEO of Arbor Point Capital, Mr. Deprez built self-directed senior management teams, developed prioritized operational improvement plans, implemented organization-wide metrics programs, improved profitability and led the sale of the companies.
Mr. Deprez is an effective transition and interim executive. As interim CEO and CFO, he has guided companies through transition periods and financial restructuring. As CEO, he led a distressed capital equipment company through an out of court restructuring and recapitalization that involved obtaining support from 93% of the unsecured creditors to accept 30% of their claim.
Mr. Deprez has a B.S. in Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA in Finance and Business Policy from the University of Chicago. He is a CPA. He has spoken to many business groups on turnaround and corporate revitalization strategies, and has taught Turnaround Strategies and Techniques for the Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals.
